Bringing a professional, informative and helpful approach to the home inspector business

With our increased professionalism, efficiency and standardization, WIN Home Inspection was founded to provide significant value to home buyers, develop trusted relationships with real estate agents and fill a market need with our home inspector business.
Before launching WIN in 1993, Dianne Knapp and her husband, Tom Knapp, noticed there was no uniformity in home inspection. Most inspectors had a general contracting background with strong technical skills, but were often lacking professionalism. This could lead to poor communication with clients.
This lack of consistency in the home inspector business caused needless frustration for buyers, sellers and agents. Dianne and Tom knew there had to be a better way.
The Knapps started WIN Home Inspection to create the professional, consistent and friendly experience that was missing in the real estate industry. They wanted to provide clear, concise reports that helped home buyers make an educated decision.
“I can’t tell you how many times an inspection would find minor things — the things you would expect in a house that is not brand new — and the way the inspector presented the findings made the buyers think there were massive problems,” said Dianne Knapp. “So then we’d see the seller make all the little repairs and when the next buyer came through, their inspectors would find a different set of minor issues. The truth is, everything can be fixed. Our job isn’t to scare the buyer, it’s to give them a clear and realistic view of the house.”

WIN home inspectors arrive early to appointments in a clean, branded vehicle, wearing a crisp WIN-branded polo and greeting home buyers and real estate agents with a smile. They provide a visual inspection covering more than 300 items from the foundation to the roof, including all the major systems of the house such as electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning. As a WIN inspector reviews the property, he or she takes pictures and makes notes for a detailed home inspection report.
Inspectors answer questions from buyers and let them know about any issues in a non-alarmist manner.
In addition to examining the condition of the home, inspectors take the opportunity to educate potential buyers to ensure they know how to operate all of a home’s systems, such as the water cutoff valve, circuit breakers and gas heat. This sets our inspectors apart.
WIN inspectors bring clarity and confidence to the home sales process, which is why we continue to grow our home inspector business with more than 180 Designated Marketing Areas in more than 30 states.
