Successfully complete 84 hours of Arizona-approved home inspection education, which aligns with the National Home Inspector Exam (NHIE).
The NHIE is a 4-hour exam consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions covering property and building inspection, analysis of findings, reporting, and professional responsibilities. Taking an exam prep course is recommended to improve your chances of passing on the first attempt.
Note: Veterans can get reimbursed for the exam through the GI Bill by submitting the VBA-22-0803-ARE form and their receipt to the VA.

Apply for an active fingerprint clearance card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, which is a requirement for licensure.
Arizona requires home inspectors to carry errors and omissions (E&O) insurance with a minimum coverage of $200,000 in aggregate and $100,000 per occurrence, or secure a bond of $25,000. Provide policy details and coverage dates.
