Gain hands-on experience by completing 80 hours of field training, which includes at least 30 parallel inspections supervised by a licensed home inspector.
Complete a comprehensive background check through national and state agencies, including fingerprinting. Certain felonies may disqualify applicants, but minor offenses do not automatically bar licensure.
Maintain a minimum of $250,000 in Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance coverage. Proof of insurance must be submitted with your application.
Complete the New Mexico home inspector application and submit it to the New Mexico Home Inspectors Board with:
20 hours per year, 2 in ethics
40 hours for two years, 4 in ethics
60 hours for three years, 6 in ethics
Every 3 years
