Once your application is approved, you will receive contact information for the third-party testing vendor. Schedule the NHIE at a convenient date, time, and location. The NHIE consists of 200 multiple-choice questions across three domains and has a time limit of four hours. Each attempt costs approximately $225. Taking a prep course is recommended to improve your chances of passing on the first attempt.

Home inspector training must be approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). To obtain the Real Estate Inspector license, 154 hours of education (including 40 hours of practicum) are required, and to obtain the Professional Real Estate Inspector license, 194 hours of education are required (including 40 hours of practicum).
